The BC all-electric conversion includes removing the old fossil fuel heating to code; nothing to tick. The federal rebate does not require removing the old system.

4The federal rebate, on its own

The new National Heat Pump Rebate opens for applications in early 2027 and can be combined with ESP and BC Hydro rebates. It is not approved until your application is.

Programme sources and what this tool covers

This tool is for new heat pump retrofits. CleanBC Better Homes is the way in, not an extra rebate. Heat pump water heaters, insulation, windows and doors, municipal top-ups, Indigenous-specific programmes and whole-building projects are not worked out here and need a separate look.

The rules don't update themselves; past the review date, check the official pages first. Off-grid areas, 4–5 unit buildings, rental limits and combination boilers go to an advisor.

Confirm with Season Energy before installing

Equipment: the outdoor unit, coil or indoor units, and air handler or furnace must form an eligible AHRI match.
Design: whole-home or zone heat load, design temperature, duct static pressure, electrical capacity and where the noise goes.
Application: confirm the pre-approval date, install date, paid invoice and the contractor’s qualifications.
This is a first screen for owners retrofitting an existing BC home. Residency, the home being at least 12 months old, ownership and install timing still need checking.
Your advisor checks pre-approval, past rebates, costs and insurance or warranty payment limits; leaving them out here doesn't mean they're met.
Federal: Canadian residency and ownership, past federal funding at the address or household, and install and receipt deadlines. The old system doesn't have to be removed.
The BC all-electric conversion assumes the old fossil fuel heating is removed to code; the scope and proof of boiler or oil tank removal need checking.
