FortisBC’s Dual Fuel Rebate Returns October 15
Up to $4,000, or up to $8,000 for income-qualified households, when you replace a gas furnace that’s 15 years or older with a heat pump and furnace system.

Requirements
- Replaces an existing gas furnace that is at least 15 years old
- A qualifying dual fuel system: a heat pump plus a gas furnace
- One AHRI certified reference number covering the heat pump’s outdoor unit, indoor unit and the furnace
- Set to switch to the furnace at 5°C or lower (Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island)
- Installed by a Technical Safety BC licensed gas contractor listed with the Home Performance Contractor Network (HPCN) for this rebate
- Installed after October 15, 2026

How it works
From an old furnace to your rebate, in four steps.
Check your furnace’s age
The gas furnace you replace must be at least 15 years old. The manufacture date is on the label inside the furnace door.
Choose a qualifying system
A heat pump and gas furnace matched under one AHRI certified reference number.
Install after October 15
By an HPCN-listed gas contractor, with the switchover set at 5°C or lower. Your contractor submits the commissioning details and photos of the old and new systems.
Apply for your rebate
You apply to FortisBC yourself, using the documents your contractor gives you.

Only if the gas furnace being replaced is at least 15 years old. You can usually find the manufacture date on the label inside the furnace door.
Who can install it?
A Technical Safety BC licensed gas contractor who is a member in good standing of the Home Performance Contractor Network (HPCN) and is listed for this rebate at the time of installation.
Can I combine it with CleanBC or the new federal rebate?
FortisBC has not published how this rebate combines with other programs. We will update this page when the full terms are out.
